The Lab

The Lab is a text-based "choose your own adventure" type of game which has been programmed manually in the NetBeans IDE. You find yourself in an unknown place with no memory how you got there, starting off as a fairly normal, healthy young man. Whether things will remain that way, however, depends entirely on your choices, for the many devices, experiments, creatures and other inhabitants within the mysterious facility may not be entirely benign...

This game is currently in early alpha, which means that the majority of the content has not yet been implemented.

Version 0.1.2 - Added restart- and back-buttons. Changed a few things behind the scenes. Slightly expanded a few paths.

Choose wisely. That is all I can say.

v0.1.2:

Very early days with this project, as the author has stated, but what I've seen so far is interesting with good writing that sets the scene and interesting early encounters.

Coding of the game is functional. It's worth a look, but I'm keen to see further developments though.

Review

You lose all your memories and end up in a strange place. What do you do? The Lab is a "Choose Your Own Adventure" story, at least as it is designed right now. It features decent writing and an intriguing plot. However, it is early and content is limited. The environment begs to be explored, though you will find yourself limited in that regards as well. Overall, though - this is a game worth keeping an eye on for future updates.

Gameplay: 2/5 - I enjoy what is current available, but presently feel like there is little impact to my choices so far (I didn't try all combinations though, I admit). I like how it is structured, but think it would be better if it would allow for more free exploration (going forward, and back; then changing your mind and going forward again.).

Writing Quality: 4/5 - The writing is clear, easily comprehensible, and the author has a good choice of language. It gets wordy at parts and sometimes the words do not flow well together which can interupt the flow of the story - but overall decently written.

Story: 3/5 - There just is not enough to say right now. What is there is well implemented though and leaves you with a sense of mystery. A couple parts puzzle me however. ***SPOILER*** For example, if you masturbate twice you lose your mind and get a Game Over. I think this should be elaborated a bit more - or perhaps just cut the player off and send them on their way.

Arousal: 2/5 - The masturbation scene is really nice, but it didn't build up much after that.

Overall: 3/5

Solid concept, but please include a "back button" for if we hit a Game Over or if none of the paths have been implemented.

The game is well written and very interesting, the only minor fact i founded was that it would be awesome to have a button that let us restart when we are game over instead of reloading the page completely beside that i would give 3 star for what there so far
